Hello fellow bloggers!

Dont know if anyone still actually reads this..How is the summer going? Mine is good, I got a job which i'm really happy about, i can stop stressing about money for the time being.

 I have made a website, and of course i did this after my business cards were made so i've had to hand write on my business cards woo..

One day till hand in!!!!!!

Well after five hours sleep am back to work. I am waiting for the last ten seconds of the animation to render, it takes forever to render the bathroom scene because of all the textures and the stuff in the scene. While i'm waiting for that I'm going over my written work, glad i did because boy am I good at missing out words and spelling things wrong!

After rendering Sausage Man I need to do my show reels then put them on to a disk.

I am happy with how this animation has turned out for hand in, there are still things I need to add/amend which I have added a write up stating what I still need to change. Probably another days work to go on it, its just the rendering time that takes forever thats why i'm leaving it until after hand in. I could spend days going over every little detail if I keep being picky so I am telling myself its 'ok for now Linsey, just move on!'

My premier pro wont let me do widescreen though, when I change the settings to 1024 x 576 it goes to 91:36 or something like that instead of 16:9 which is annoying! I have to put it on animation and square pixels for it to work. Kind of sucks that it wont let me do the right settings :(

For my portfolio, again I need to change a few things but for hand in its ok, I got a little carried away with the commentary so had to add it to the folders instead of the portfolio itself. For final show I will be reprinting a few of the images because the fonts dont match on some of them and its going to niggle on me knowing that people are looking at it and they will pick up on the fact they dont all match. But like i said its too late now to reprint so am going to leave it for now.

really brain? really???

For some strange reason my brain decided, ooo one day left really to get this all done why not add an extra scene...oh ok then!! Ya thats right today I have spent all day working on two new scenes for the animation, i'm waiting for the second one to render, so I now have to change my script and reprint it. But on a good note it now means I dont have to stretch out teh bathroom scene, adding the new scenes has cut that one down which is good I guess.

After this is done I still need to mount my images, make the show reels, put everything on a disk. argharghargh.

Anyone know what time hand in is on friday? 1 I'm presuming? I'm hoping so because i need to reprint a couple word docs in the morning :/

Animation so farrr

An update on the animation...

I managed to get the hallway scene and the beginning of the bathroom scene done today. I am not 100% happy with it but for the time being its ok, after hand in I will probably go through some of it to make it a little better for Star and Shadow. I might change some of the items in the bathroom to make it look more realistic.

It is taking a few hours to render which is annoying :/ 12 seconds took 3 1/2 hours. I was a little bored, I don't even have a printer so I couldn't print off some of the written work while i waited, would have been some what more interesting than twiddling my thumbs  :(

So at the moment I have 1 minute 25 seconds out of 3 minutes done. This is going to be a late night/early morning week me thinks.

My eyes sting but gotta keep on truckin

Well today I printed off a few of the images of Sausage Man and the guy at the shop was, how to do i say....clueless (thought I would write a polite word seeing as how others can see this blog!). I asked for certain ones to be printed and he starred at them for a few moments and then went to print one, he opened it in Paint and then did something else weird to it and then pressed print and it came out all messed up and on two A3's. Then I was like erm can I please see a print preview, his reply 'what do you mean'. Later find out he is the manager, wow kid think you should stick to managing and shouldn't fill in for you staff in certain departments. Anywho, he obviously over heard me saying, all he has to do is click on one, press print and then the wizard comes up and you tick all the ones you want....cuz when i next looked at his screen that's what he did! Then was like ah that has worked. Silly sausage was he!

Anywho, after those lovely few minutes I went to see my family and my mam's new place, nice break playing with the kids and catching up since I've been a bit of a billy no mates the past little while. Now its work time, even though sleep looks pretty tempting I'm gonna have to do it. So today and tomorrows plan is to try and get more.

• Do show reels
• Mount stuff - am not a fan of this because every single one I have done so far (previous projects) messes up :/

Am getting excited now for the end results, i'm definitely in a better place than I was last week with my freaking out and stress levels being high but that's what happens when you have anxiety, just gotta deal with it :)

Portfolio Websites

I have been looking at how to make a good portfolio and found a few website that give some good advice.

All of them say to have sketches, illustrations, drawings of figures, print samples and demo reels. A variety is definitly key.

Progress and SWOT

Weeellll i'm getting motivated to get work done, the past couple days i've done quite a bit and am feeling less stressed. Had a bit of a moment the other day because I was overwhelmed by all the work that I hadn't done. As in I hadn't done anything apart from the actual animation, well even that I had only been reworking the first 28 seconds!!

So far I have completed the character boards, script, live brief write up, skillset, further education research, competition research, some of the write ups for my porfolio work, credits for the final animation and have printed off a few things. Was great going into the shop and telling him the pictures are in a folder called Sausage Man, he looked at me oddly haha.

Today I am finishing the anamatic and have one more storyboard to do, then the rest of the written work - research on porfolios, what i've learnt this year, evaluation on work. Its getting there!!!!!

Lastly FINISH THE ACTUAL ANIMATION!


STRENGTH: I have learnt a lot through this project and feel I am alot more confident in Cinema 4D, its my little friend now (well for the most part). My strengths are that I will have my work all done by Friday.

WEAKNESS: Although the work will be done, I don't think it is to the best standards that I can do. Leaving myself a week to animate half of the animation means I will not be happy with it. My weakness is my time plan on things.

OPPORTUNITIES: Having the band play this animation on their website and at their gigs to get my work/name out there. I can also enter it into festivals/competitions.

THREATS: I am not sure I will be completely happy with my animation by Friday. I also am not sure I will be entirely happy with my porfolio, i'm picky and I hope it doesnt look rushed :/

Animalz

A few characters I doodled over the weekend. They are more aimed at the younger crowd, I may make a short animation with them or was thinking I can use them as illustrations in a book too. I used to write loads of little stories when I was littler, all aimed for younger kids so I might make one for my nephews and niece and use these characters :)

Argh

Not gonna lie i'm a little annoyed at cinema 4d right now. I was thinking it was me just being very picky and every time I render a scene I find SOMETHING that I dont like, the tiniest of things as in, oh the light needs to be half a cm to the right, but anywho, I have just waited about 45 minutes for the first 20 seconds to render and I made sure the cloth tags were sorted and guess whats happened......THE STUPID CLOTH TAG HAS NOT SET! argh. No way am I staying up cuz of the stupid pillow. This final animation is the bain of my life I swear, on a happy note I really enjoyed working on the Odd Co. stuff, i'm quite pleased with myself as I spent friday and saturday night doodling. Ya party cuz I havent been well so have stayed in all weekend, yea me, am cool! Sooo enough of my rant.

I cant not wait for this animation to be over so I can stop having little huffs at cinema 4D :D

Carrot Man

On Wednesday Paul showed Janey and I what he learned in the Cinema 4D workshop he went to in Pictoplasma, it was basically showing us another way to model hands and bodies. Here is the character I made...Mr Carrot Man :D

Littlest Pet Shop

While searching for some reference for the characters I have drawn I have come across the following collective bears..There sure are a lot of bears out there 

After drawing a few sketches my images were reminding me of a certain toy but I couldnt think of what it was. So I typed in animal toys and there is was Littlest Pet Shop, ah ha! that was what was coming to my mind when I was doing my sketches. So I here are a few images which I will be looking at while I do the final sketches of the animals I have done :D

I also was thinking back to previous characters I have done and I am going to try out some different things with things from my other sketch books :D

TIME PLAN!!

So yet again i'm ill today, my tonsils have decided to become the size of my head and grow razor blades so I cant eat or drink anything woo!!!

Enough about that though because its time to work work work. I'm gonna have to try and stay up later than 8 tonight to get stuff done ha.

Sooooo the deadline is in 15 days, woah! My mam just got here too so need to find time to see her between getting work done and getting the presentation complete.


By Monday:

• Complete Odd Co work - research on Odd Co., research on toys, sketches and 3d designs, 
• Written work - TRY and get that done as i've got all the info I just need to put it all together.

By Wednesday:

• Anamatic, Script, Storyboards, Presentation

By Monday 7th:

• Portfolio complete with write ups (I have started a blog with just my work and already wrote a bit about each piece so I can use those write ups/amend them a little).

By Friday 11th:

• EVERYTHING COMPLETE!!! - Reels, design for business cards, final write up about last 2 years 

By May 24th:

• Everything for final show completed (printed, put on boards and sort how i'm going to display it all).

Then am away on holiday for a week woo hoooo.

The inspiration from home, aren't they just the cutest :D

I am looking forward to this live brief, not sure my ideas will make it big time but after Paul from Odd Co spoke about us creating toys a few ideas sprung into mind. I bought a new sketch book yesterday to get started on this, I will post the pictures once i'm happy with them. :D

Water

A trial I have done on cinema 4D..One of my scenes takes place in the bathroom and I wanted to see if I could add water to the bathtub and see if it would look some what real so I tried out the random effector and noise material in cinema 4D and came up with this...


Its pretty short but was just trying it out.

Almost had a wee heart attack this morning thinking i had lost my cousins dog but he was standing at the door, he is massive and white so i'm a lil confused on how the heck i didnt see him!! He likes to stand at the door for some reason just starring into the back garden, weirdo. Also i'm a bit gutted because i cant go to my friends wedding this summer :( i'm suppose to be a bridesmaid for her and av had to email her today saying i cant go 1 because of money and 2 because of Uni. I dont really want to mess up my chances at the Uni so the family think its best i stick to the course (if i pass this one obviously!!!). Today i think i am going to create a new blog, with just work on it so i can add it to my CV as having the school one isnt really professional i dont think, with all my random notes and pictures of dogs haha. Title For Meeeeee

Trying to figure out a title for myself...I saw this technique on line and said outloud - aw cool! ya i'm sad and talk to myself so this is what I have done today... and with sound :)

I have been trying to find what i want for my animation and this is it!! but it doesnt have a tutorial so i will need to search more!! Another one which may help with the colours of the splines...dunno yet..but i like it..

OH MY GOD!! These two dogs are getting on great but i feel like they are children, telling them off every minute. My vocab since last night has been ROXANNE LEAVE JOS ALONE...and LIE DOWN! - the joys! Its funny cuz one minute they are best friends and then the next roxy just wants to play and jos wants no part of it, she's like the annoying younger sister.

Its a dog, ooo la la! The pictoplasma screening/lecture pictures were taken by Janey...thought there wasnt any point in me taking them if we were sitting together and she kindly let me use them :)

Back from Berlin and feeling 50% human again! The festival was great and really enjoyed the talks (and maybe a beer or two). Even though the trip was great, the ending wasnt, I have been ill for two days now! I thought the screenings were really good, especially the music video ones. I didnt do any of the workshops but watched the different stages of the felt monster and saw some of the lino cutting too. After being to this festival it has drummed it in my head a bit more that simple is better. The amount of times I keep trying to simple my ideas it just doesn't seem to work and then i get behind and then change the idea 100 times. Its good being back to normal life, my dog missed me which was great but now she is trying her luck and being a douche. So far today she has eaten her bed, been sick and keeps coughing up bits of her bed AND like always hitting my laptop so I cant go on it. And to add to that i'm babysitting my cousins dog tonight so i'm going to be up all night because he cries when he thinks he's alone, the size of him you would think he would be tough but nope he loves his cuddles. So my last update i went on about how much of the work i was going to get done but guess what happend...yup thats right..Linsey got sick again!! I swear i have been more ill than healthy this school year! If its not my eyes, its my headaches, if its not the headaches its my stomach, if its not that its my back!! Argh. I was asleep pretty much all day yesterday :( grr. I am hoping i am ok for berlin, been to the chemist and stocked up on meds!! I am looking forward to the trip but i dont like planes so i am a bit nervous about that :/ and i've lost my ipod so i cant even be distracted boo hoo!! Well am trying to do some work today but my eyes and head are killing, we shall see what i get done :) Hope everyone is having/has a great Easter

Things that have inspired me recently

These are a few videos i've seen recently that have made me think - wow how do they do that!! haha, sad yes but its true. I think the beginning of this is amazing, how she is built like a robot. The effects are really good and I am going to look into how they did this and what they used to create the effect, i likes it! For this video it was the greyhounds that got me, again, going to see if i can find out what they used to make them. It looks like it can be done in Cinema 4d ooooooolala. I also like the big where they have the digital headphones and controlling the dogs with the digital computer. For this video its the backgrounds,i like the movements and designs.

Hello campers! Well after a weekend of dealing with the garden and eating way too much its back to the grind stone. I have a check list as long as my arm for things to do before year end! This week I plan on getting all of my PPD stuff done, I have access to a printer tomorrow so lets see if I can get it all done and organised by tomorrow so its printed and done! In regards to my animation I am happy with the first two scenes so I just need to do the final render of them, thats 27 seconds done. I know it doesnt seem like much but I am picky and go over things way too much. I keep changing my mind with how i'm going to put the scenes together but I am happy with how I am getting on. I need to sort out dancing splines, fun? sure :/ I then need to sort the lights for the hallway, the artwork for the hallway and the floor. For the bathroom I need to do lighting, and add towels and bottles of shampoo :) Then its ANIMATE SAUSAGE MAN TIME! In addition to this my mam owns a wedding business and asked if I could help her make a website and create some 3d designs for her to show people the rooms and decorations she has to offer. I am looking forward to doing that because I will have the images of all the vases/flowers/ribbons etc that she has and plus i've seen all her materials and the venues (seeing as how she did both my sisters weddings :D)so that will help in making me make sure its exact and looks real. I have been looking for companies to do work experience today as well, I found a few and the ones for 3d interiors look amazing, its hard to believe how real they make the images look, lighting is great! The dog has attacked me once so far today because i've been on the laptop, i've distracted her with food so its onto coffee number two and let the work commence!! I have changed the patio a little bit....We are now thinking of giving the pups a bit more space so I will be adding a fence just the edge of the grassy area, a metal one I think so we can still see the puppies and in case they decide they like the taste of wood and start to chew!! I am thinking thats going to take some time to create, using splines and what not so I wont be starting that tonight, I just changed the decking for now.

Speaking of splines, that is what I will be working on next for my animationioneh! I need to create some moving colourful lines and shapes so will be trying different splines out. woooo, fun you say, of course :o

I added the gates last night and tried out the lights today. The reason behind the layout is because we plan on breeding the lovely little Roxanne

Not the best photo but atleast you can see what she looks like, she attacked me because she doesnt like me being on the laptop. She wants all my attention, she jumped on me and this was the half second she stopped trying to lick me!! I also took pictures of our actual back garden so you can see what it looks like and to see what i'm working with :) Will upload those when I find the camera lead.
