Another weekly update!!!

Well last week I didn't do as well as i had hoped. I did want to have a bit more complete on my cinema 4d project. I have the layout of one scene done but still need to play around with the movement of the germ to make him move smoothly. I was shown a way of doing this on thursday so this week i plan on getting as much done as possible before breaking up for the xmas holidays.I will be excited to see how it looks at the end but at the moment i feel i have a long way to go!!

Last week I spent all my time trying to sort one scene out and the characters. I did the pose to pose with the germ and the dolls, making them look like they are blinking,i enjoyed doing that bit.

Last week we also tried out the audio programs Audacity and Garage Band. I made a lovely little dance number, glow sticks at the ready!

This week, along with the cinema 4d scenes, i need to sort out my sounds. I have a list of which ones i need such as clock ticking, muffled TV, dog sniffing, the sneeze...now, its just getting them together to add them to the final animation.

Last week i also saw the below video made my Ryan Woodward, thanks to one of my friends who brought this to my attention! I also watched the 'making of video' which i found was really good, even though the characters dont have faces and are just lines they still show personality and characteristics like a fully drawn object would.

Week 3

Last week i managed to get all of my assets complete. I still need to put them all together in Cinema 4D.

This week we will be starting a new module - sound!

I have a rough idea of sounds to use for my animation so i will need to find out which ones work best for the sounds.

I will also be working on putting my animation in cinema 4D, i still have a lot to learn with this program, will be spending some time experimenting i think!

I am also going to try and get parts of my other projects complete - (essay and morph).

Week 2

This week i will be finishing up my assets for my animation on photoshop and trying to figure out Cinema 4D!!!

Weeks Plan

This week i will be:

Drawing out all the aspects to the animation - i.e. all the parts needed for the cut out animation.

I will also be creating the background to use - As it is a front room i am going to draw it on one sheet and use the camera angles and techniques in Cinema 4D to zoom in and out and move side to side instead of redrawing the background for each scene.

Anamatic

Here is my anamtic to go with our second project.

The aim of this project was to create a 30 second script and then draw out the story.  I drew the scenes with a fine liner and scanned them into photoshop.  I used photoshop to colour the images and to create little short movies for each of the moving scenes.  I then uploaded the movies into Final Cut Pro, adding them all together to create the anamatic.

I still need to look at the timing of each shot and also go through character design before going into the actual animation.

Movement in 12 frames

Right so here is my first project -

This short video was done in cut out style. He was made from black card, split pins and a photo of an eye. The 12 movements were shot using Dragon and then animated in Photoshop.

During this project we were to choose an animal or human movement and create a 12 frame loop. As you can see when you press 'play', i have chose jump.

I will upload the final animation once i get the usb i saved it on!!

Monkey Business

I liked this video i saw on vimeo - showing the movements of a monkey in cut out animation.

Alternative Animation Cut-out from HÃ¥vard Forland Isaksen on Vimeo.

Below is a YouTube video from Nightmare Before Christmas - one of my favourites!! I love pretty much ALL of Tim Burton's films. I remember going to see this film with my mam and brother when it first came out and remember thinking, how good would it be to be able to create something like this!

The below video is also from YouTube and is by Terry Gilliam (better known from The Monty Python). He has been using the cut out style for decades and is a great example to use to help with my progression of my cut out project. It is hard choosing just one of his pieces of work as all of them are unique and funny.

For this one i have just had to add a link as it wouldnt let me copy the embedded code.
This link is for a Linken Park video - This video is one of the inspirations that pushed me to go into this field. After watching this i wanted to be able to create an animated music video.

I found this video on YouTube for 2.5D animation.
I thought this was pretty amazing how you can take a 2D image and make it look so realistic!! This video will help me i think to show what a 2.5d animation can look like.

This video below (also from YouTube!) has made me think of how i want to do my animation. I like the idea of painting the characters instead of colouring them on photoshop. In this video they used After Effects with watercolour paintings.

Lotte Reiniger is also an influence in cut out animation with The Adventures of Prince Achmed.

Another example of cut out animation which was on Vimeo - i thought it was a great video
